A WORLD OF FUN & FEARLESS EXPRESSION

Halloween holds a special place in my heart, not just for the scares, but for the memories it brings. Growing up, my mother got a kick out of scaring me. If I didn’t behave, she’d tell me stories about Nho Lobo, the wolf from Cape Verdean folklore, coming to get me. And if that wasn’t enough, she’d take it up a notch, sometimes wearing a Halloween mask in the middle of the night, scaring the heck out of me!

But despite those scares, Halloween became something more for me as I grew older. My earliest memory of trick-or-treating was actually from a distance. I was a shy kid, too nervous to step out of the car when we drove to a family member’s house for Halloween. I remember sitting there, watching everyone else have fun, feeling both intrigued and hesitant. It’s funny now because, as an adult, I’ve come to realize how important it is to let go, have fun, and not take life too seriously—something Halloween invites us all to do.

For many, Halloween is about fear and horror. But for me, it’s also a reminder not to be afraid to express yourself. It’s a time to tap into your creativity, step into another character, and just enjoy the moment.

Fun fact: I started my business, GC Network Solutions, on Halloween. Looking back, it feels like the perfect fit—almost like the universe nudged me to embrace the same creativity and boldness that Halloween brings out in me.

To me, Halloween isn’t just about costumes or scares—it’s a celebration of creativity, playfulness, and self-expression. It’s a day that reminds me not to be afraid of showing who I really am and to enjoy life’s moments with a bit of humor and imagination. So while you may come for the spooks, don’t forget to let Halloween bring out the fun, creative side in you too!
