GCENTEIO

Where technology, creativity, and personal connections intersect.

OUR ROOTS: FROM ATTIC TO INNOVATION

Welcome to GCenteio, a personal project born from a passion for technology and connection. It all started in 2005, in the small attic apartment where I lived in Boston, right after finishing college. With an eagerness to dive into the IT world and make something of my own, I began repurposing donated computer systems. I built a firewall from one, a NAS from another, and various servers from the rest. I even set up my own email server, creating accounts for close family and friends.

GCenteio has become more than just a technical experiment; it’s developed into a way to stay connected with loved ones while still exploring the endless possibilities of IT. Each repurposed system not only enhanced my skills but also strengthened personal bonds. Through GCenteio I hope to deep dive into my own network and system to allow others to witness my journey and learn more about me. Each section on this site has profound meaning that took me on a personal voyage of exploration to really understand the person I have learned to love. Thank you for being a part of this journey.

TIED TO THE COSMOS: A FOUNDATION IN THE STARS

Now, let’s talk about the Cosmos. Ever since I was a kid, the night sky has been calling me. I remember waking up in the middle of the night, trying to catch a glimpse of Halley’s Comet. Spoiler alert: I didn’t see it. The city lights and cloudy skies got in the way, but that didn’t stop me from looking up. Even then, I felt this strange, unexplainable connection to the stars, like the universe had something to say to me if I just listened hard enough.

It’s more than just a fascination—it feels personal, like the cosmos and I are in constant conversation. Every time I look up, I wonder if the universe is trying to tell me something about who I am, reminding me that there’s more out there, and within, to explore. For me, it’s not just science; it’s a spiritual connection, one that always brings me a sense of calm and curiosity.

VIBRATIONS: THE BEAT OF MY SOUL

Just like the cosmos, music has always been a part of me. Growing up in Boston around Cape Verdeans gave me a unique and rich exposure to different types of music. I was raised on a mix of Cape Verdean sounds, rap, and R&B. In the ‘90s, hip hop DJs were everywhere, but Cape Verdean DJs were rare. I still remember the first time I heard DJs like DJ Truimph and DJ Baby T blending Cape Verdean tracks—it blew my mind. That inspired me to do something different, something that I hadn’t heard before: mix Cape Verdean music with hip hop, creating a sound that was truly my own. And that’s when DJ Alex was born.

Since 1999, I’ve been creating mixes that blend the best of both worlds. It’s not just about playing music—it’s about feeling it, letting the vibrations carry me away. There’s something about music that clears my mind and relaxes me like nothing else. It’s the ultimate escape, and the rhythms just hit different when you’re fully immersed in it. Music has been one of my creative outlets for decades, and it continues to fuel me, just like the stars above.

HARMONY IN MOTION: CRAFTING DISCIPLINE THROUGH ART

Just like music has been my creative outlet, martial arts has been the discipline that shaped me. It’s more than just something I do—it’s a lifestyle, a way of expressing myself when words weren’t always easy for me. As a shy and quiet kid, I first stepped into the world of martial arts with a lot of uncertainty, but right from the start, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.

Martial arts gave me something I hadn’t found anywhere else: confidence. It helped me feel more comfortable in my own skin, and it became my way of communicating without saying a word. Through punches, kicks, and footwork, I found a form of art that resonated deeply with me. Every movement became an expression of who I was, and over time, it shaped not just my body, but my mind and spirit as well.

It’s a lifelong practice—one that continues to challenge and inspire me. Martial arts isn’t just about learning to defend yourself; it’s about discipline, focus, and the creative freedom to express who you are through movement.
